Mercy Welcomes Two New Neurosurgeons

Oklahoma City — Neurosurgeons Fadi Nasr, M.D., and Brian Snell, M.D., join Mercy NeuroScience Institute (NSI)—the largest group of neuroscience specialists in the southwest region with more than 40 highly specialized physicians.

Dr. Nasr received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma and completed a neurological surgery residency from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC). In addition, he completed a fellowship in deformity correction and complex spinal reconstruction at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Nasr specializes in adult degenerative spinal conditions, including adult degenerative scoliosis. He also has an interest in minimally invasive surgery of the spine, as well as general neurosurgical procedures such as intracranial tumors and aneurysms.

Dr. Snell received his medical degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, and completed an internship in general surgery and residency in neurological surgery at OUHSC. In addition, he completed a complex spinal surgery fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Snell has extensive experience in the treatment of cranial and spinal trauma, as well as cranial and spinal tumors. He also has an interest in cranial and spinal radiosurgery. Dr. Snell comes to Mercy from Tyler Neurosurgical Associates in Tyler, Texas, where he practiced three years.

“Doctors Nasr and Snell are joining a team of highly trained neuro physicians,” said Dr. Richard V. Smith, Mercy NSI medical director and neurosurgeon. “We offer the most comprehensive neurological care in the state—be it brain tumors, spinal injuries, strokes, multiple sclerosis or severe headaches.”

When Mercy NSI opened in 1993, the NSI was the fourth of its kind in the nation. To contact Dr. Nasr or Dr. Snell’s office, call (405) 748-3300.
